Writing

Kia Ora everyone!

Today I will like to show you about the amazing writing that me and my class did with Zara!

We had actually done this last week on Thursday and Friday, and my writing is a bit unfinished, but I would still like to show my WIP writing.

When we had Zara we had the choice to either write about: If your backpack had a diary, and the adventures it would go on OR if you had school in the year 2035 and how different it would be compared to normal schools. Me? I chose the 2nd one because it sounded pretty interesting. Most of my class had chosen the first one. Next, I sat by one of the circle tables with my friends Gian and Rayhana. Rayhana chose the first writing prompt and Gian chose the same one as me, so we gave each other some ideas while we wrote.

Here is my story so far!

NOTE: This story is like a diary entry from 2035. Some of the things in the story are based on real life but most of the things in this story are completely made up!

Monday: I woke up at 6:30 today. My bedroom was a total mess! Plus, I was still in my Onesie. My onesie is fluffy and it is navy blue (my favourite colour!), it is also shaped like a dinosaur with a tail and a hoodie kind of part that looks like a dinosaur’s head biting into whoever is wearing it. I like wearing it because it is super comfortable! My room, which is messy, has walls painted in blue like my onesie. The flooring is deep gray, it is also fluffy like a soft little cloud in the sky. My room is really cozy and I’m glad that my parents have found an excellent, futuristic house for us to stay in! I NEED to get ready for school, by the way.

As my mum is preparing warm scrambled eggs on toast, I start to get my chromebook to charge using the Turbo Chromebook Charger 2000 to charge it instantly. By the way, it’s the first week of school this year, I’m excited as usual like every year. I’m excited to see my best friends, and I’m excited to see what my new class looks like! I wonder if I’ll be in the same class as my friends, I really wanna tell them about my exciting trip to the farm that is coming up! I scrambled to get to the kitchen to eat, as my stomach was growling for food. I dashed to the table, where my mum gave me a great hug. As I was slowly beginning to eat, my little sister, Katia, was being annoying, as usual. Although it was unbearable, I tried to ignore her and just eat. Later, my mum was talking to me while I ate. “Ella, you know you’re allowed to call your friends, right?” my mum asked.

“Nah, I think I’m gonna surprise them!” I said back. I slowly but steadily ate, while Katia and Kaea (my nephew) were scrapping. I spiralled into thoughts, just trying to remember what my school looked like. My friends, class… nevermind… I think I’m getting carried away. I just remembered, I need to get ready for School! I think I’ll say a bit more – or write a bit more later. Anyways, I collected my stuff and equipped my bag, then I hopped into the car and put on my seatbelt. As my mum drove, I looked out the window, gazing outside. When the car started hovering, the roads above us felt further away as we went up. I have the fear of heights, and the fact that we were in the air made me terrified. I clutched onto the armrest in the car until we finally landed on the smooth, futuristic roads. My mum turned off the hovering controls and began to drive. I whipped out my Drawing Pad 2000 and I started to draw an illustration.

END OF WIP

Thank you for reading my amazing story! I really enjoyed working on it and I would like to finish it later.

Forces and Motion ✈ | Kapriella

Hello / Kia ora! (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*.✧

on Tuesday, me, my class and room 1 made paper planes for a challenge. I had no experience making my own paper planes, so I was nervous about making one by myself. To make it worse, we couldn’t use any tutorials or YouTube. The reason I think we had to make some is because we were going to do another competition about creating a plane out of 1.5 litre bottles, to  test our engineering skills and to learn about forces and motion. Me and my friends sat at the blue table and got a piece of paper. This was my first ever time making a paper plane, and there was no turning back. The only paper we had was the one in our hands, nothing else!

But, we were allowed to help each other, but only in words and we couldn’t show the instructions. That was probably so we can try to work independently. To make mine, I just made a regular plane with a few tweaks, like folding the ends up so it looks like a jet. The only bad thing about it was that one half of the plane wasn’t symmetrical and the tip was bending, it also wasn’t pointy! It took a bit long to finish up the details. The last thing I did was write my name and put a little star next to it.

 <– Do you like it?

Here, I am holding it up to take a photo. My attempt at making a paper plane might look good, but in real life it isn’t really that good. I tried my best without using tutorials, after all! All of us went to put our planes underneath the TV, one by one. I think the best one was Legend’s plane because it had very sharp edges so it can fly and it also had a unique shape. I didn’t think my one would fly that far because of how I designed it, I didn’t put that much thought into it as well since I didn’t really know what to design it like. On Wednesday  (yesterday at the time I am making it), we went with room 1 to go to the hall and gave our planes a test! We had lined up, into 3 or 4 lines. I kinda forgot though. We went to the start of the side of the hall, opposite of the bathrooms, and waited until it was our turn to fly it. My line was first, though. I was shaking and nervous. Holding my plane up in the air, I waited for the whistle, and…. GO!

I threw it as far as I could and… It didn’t go as far as I expected… At least it went kinda far..? One by one, each line went, and by far, Chloe, Gian and Noah went the furthest! We quickly gathered our planes at the spots they landed. Chloe was the winner, so she got a lollipop. I have no idea which flavour it was though. On Thursday, we did another test again, but outside. My class lined up and we went to the metal climbing structure with holes in it. We faced towards the thick wooden poles on the bike track. I got ready and then… 3… 2…. 1….. GO! I chucked mine as far as I could, it still…. didn’t land that far. We did more testing, in the end, Noah, Gian Praise, Memphis and Paora were the top 5! I do not remember which place I got though…

I hope you have enjoyed my awesome writing. This took me almost the whole morning block. Here are some questions:

If you were designing a paper plane, how would you design it and why?

Would you have also needed help to make a paper plane too?

bye bye 😀

THE GERM HUNTER EXPERIMENT 🦠

Hello everyone,

On wednesday we did an experiment. My class got to learn how bacteria grows and even more!

First, we needed to decide what surfaces to sample. And the results were: under  the table, clean hands, dirty hands and the door knob. Then we used our cotton swabs to collect the samples by rubbing them on the surface for ten seconds. Then, the people with dirty hands went to go wash their hands to remove the other germs.

After that, we rubbed our cotton swabs with zig-zag patterns on the agar with the samples. When it was finished, labels of the sample names were put on the lids, then we sealed it with tape so no one can open it. Then we store it in a warm area to let it grow.

Then in the next few days we can check on them to see how much they’ve grown!!

Hope you enjoyed! Let me know in the comments If I should add anything. 🦖

Kapriella – Google Earth Activity!!

Kia Ora, students!

Today we were with Aina and we did learning about Google Earth around the world.

—————————————————————————————————————————————————————-

We had to search Google Earth and press enter. Then we clicked on the first link, but there was a loading screen and we had to wait for it for a long time. When it finally loaded we explored our planet, placing landmarks to edit and show in our slideshows. I got a few countries, like: New Zealand, Australia, Philippines, Italy, Germany and Finland.

=============================================================================================

We had a lot of fun making our landmarks and showing it to our friends!

Also, I’ve got a fun trick you can do on Google Earth. Well it isn’t a real trick, it looks cool!

Search Lake Klejtrup, if you see the little camera purple thingy, go in front of it and change your tiltness. Zoom in and you can see a tiny World Map!!

It looks so cute and mini.

—————————————————————————————————————————————————————–

If you enjoied then thank you!

Hello, It’s me Ella!

Today i will show you my speech! (It’s not done because the two contestants were already picked before i got to finish it)

Kia Ora, my name is Kapriella and today I will be talking about protecting our whenua.
How many times have you littered? Probably a bit, but some people seem to not even care about rubbish on the ground and we should pick it up.
I believe that we can all be kaitiaki when we protect our land, and animals that live on earth.
Being a kaitiaki isn’t just about picking up rubbish, it’s about looking after our land as a whole. You can be a kaitiaki by recycling stuff or maybe saving resources. When our ancestors lived on the land, they looked after it and didn’t use a whole lot of resources from it.
The land is important because its where we live, and where we come from. Land can give us food, water and supplies that can sustain life for us. Whenua is also important for animals, too!
So, if we don’t protect our environment some bad things will happen. First of all, animals will die and food will dry out. Secondly, the whole world will look like a trash heap because there will be litter everywhere!  And cute little animals like Kiwi and Turtles will be wiped out, too!

I felt really focused while making it but I did really run out of time to make it so thats all I did.

The topic was about “protecting our whenua” and I think I did a good job!

What do you think? Was it good?

Matariki Digital Art (Kapriella)

Kia ora,

I have been learning about Matariki, and on tuesday I made a Matariki Landscape picture in Google drawings. I used the polyline tool to make a realistic looking mountain, I then filled the mountain in grey. I made the background a dark blue-ish one and added tiny stars. Then, I made my stars. I made sure to make them appear glowing. Finally, I added another mountain to add a finishing touch.

Finished project
Here is the finished project

Kapriella Maths (Multiplication and arrays)

Kia Ora,

Today i have been learning about multiplication. For this days lesson, I did arrays and repeated multiplication/addition. Our classes task was to solve arrays with repeated addition and then solve with multiplication, I also had to make my own arrays to solve.

It was pretty easy until Me and my friends made it up to the paperwork we had to fill out. We basicly had to do vertical subtraction and check our work by using addition. We then had to fill in the empty spaces with numbers that make the equation make sense.

Goodbye! 🙂

(Kapriella) States of Matter: Solids

Solids

Kia Ora,

Today I will be talking about solids. If you don’t know what a solid is, its basically just one of the states of matter. Solids are substances that have a definite shape and volume. They can be touched, felt and they do not flow or take the shape of their container. Solids can be seen everywhere! Your house might have some soilds like: A Table, Chair, Bed or TV.
Solids can be used for building stuff, like a house or structure.

There are lots of diffrent types of materials that are solids like: Wood (From trees and can be used to build houses.) and Concrete (starts as a liquid, but hardens up into a solid. Can be used for floors, footpaths or driveways.).

Me and my friend group (Memphis, Gian and Me) did some research and facts about solids.

Here are our facts about solids:

Kapriella – Reading Week 3 Term 2

Kia Ora,

In this week me and my reading group have been reading about All As One.

All As One / School Journal Level 3 November 2020 / School Journal / Instructional Series / English - ESOL - Literacy Online website - Instructional Series

What’s the story about?

The story is about mosques in New Zealand. Musilm people there will stay to come together as a family, they do prayers, eat and other normal things. The Musilm people work together as a family or team, making sure they have each others back.

The story kinda relates to my family, and maybe yours. My family works together just like the family in the book. I like the book because its like working together as a family and friends, it talks about whats in the mosque and how the Muslim people have their day in it.
