THE GERM HUNTER EXPERIMENT 🦠

Hello everyone,

On wednesday we did an experiment. My class got to learn how bacteria grows and even more!

First, we needed to decide what surfaces to sample. And the results were: under  the table, clean hands, dirty hands and the door knob. Then we used our cotton swabs to collect the samples by rubbing them on the surface for ten seconds. Then, the people with dirty hands went to go wash their hands to remove the other germs.

After that, we rubbed our cotton swabs with zig-zag patterns on the agar with the samples. When it was finished, labels of the sample names were put on the lids, then we sealed it with tape so no one can open it. Then we store it in a warm area to let it grow.

Then in the next few days we can check on them to see how much they’ve grown!!

Hope you enjoyed! Let me know in the comments If I should add anything. 🦖

Kapriella – Google Earth Activity!!

Kia Ora, students!

Today we were with Aina and we did learning about Google Earth around the world.

—————————————————————————————————————————————————————-

We had to search Google Earth and press enter. Then we clicked on the first link, but there was a loading screen and we had to wait for it for a long time. When it finally loaded we explored our planet, placing landmarks to edit and show in our slideshows. I got a few countries, like: New Zealand, Australia, Philippines, Italy, Germany and Finland.

=============================================================================================

We had a lot of fun making our landmarks and showing it to our friends!

Also, I’ve got a fun trick you can do on Google Earth. Well it isn’t a real trick, it looks cool!

Search Lake Klejtrup, if you see the little camera purple thingy, go in front of it and change your tiltness. Zoom in and you can see a tiny World Map!!

It looks so cute and mini.

If you enjoied then thank you!

Hello, It’s me Ella!

Today i will show you my speech! (It’s not done because the two contestants were already picked before i got to finish it)

Kia Ora, my name is Kapriella and today I will be talking about protecting our whenua.
How many times have you littered? Probably a bit, but some people seem to not even care about rubbish on the ground and we should pick it up.
I believe that we can all be kaitiaki when we protect our land, and animals that live on earth.
Being a kaitiaki isn’t just about picking up rubbish, it’s about looking after our land as a whole. You can be a kaitiaki by recycling stuff or maybe saving resources. When our ancestors lived on the land, they looked after it and didn’t use a whole lot of resources from it.
The land is important because its where we live, and where we come from. Land can give us food, water and supplies that can sustain life for us. Whenua is also important for animals, too!
So, if we don’t protect our environment some bad things will happen. First of all, animals will die and food will dry out. Secondly, the whole world will look like a trash heap because there will be litter everywhere!  And cute little animals like Kiwi and Turtles will be wiped out, too!

I felt really focused while making it but I did really run out of time to make it so thats all I did.

The topic was about “protecting our whenua” and I think I did a good job!

What do you think? Was it good?

Matariki Digital Art (Kapriella)

Kia ora,

I have been learning about Matariki, and on tuesday I made a Matariki Landscape picture in Google drawings. I used the polyline tool to make a realistic looking mountain, I then filled the mountain in grey. I made the background a dark blue-ish one and added tiny stars. Then, I made my stars. I made sure to make them appear glowing. Finally, I added another mountain to add a finishing touch.

Finished project
Here is the finished project

Kapriella Maths (Multiplication and arrays)

Kia Ora,

Today i have been learning about multiplication. For this days lesson, I did arrays and repeated multiplication/addition. Our classes task was to solve arrays with repeated addition and then solve with multiplication, I also had to make my own arrays to solve.

It was pretty easy until Me and my friends made it up to the paperwork we had to fill out. We basicly had to do vertical subtraction and check our work by using addition. We then had to fill in the empty spaces with numbers that make the equation make sense.

Goodbye! 🙂

(Kapriella) States of Matter: Solids

Solids

Kia Ora,

Today I will be talking about solids. If you don’t know what a solid is, its basically just one of the states of matter. Solids are substances that have a definite shape and volume. They can be touched, felt and they do not flow or take the shape of their container. Solids can be seen everywhere! Your house might have some soilds like: A Table, Chair, Bed or TV.
Solids can be used for building stuff, like a house or structure.

There are lots of diffrent types of materials that are solids like: Wood (From trees and can be used to build houses.) and Concrete (starts as a liquid, but hardens up into a solid. Can be used for floors, footpaths or driveways.).

Me and my friend group (Memphis, Gian and Me) did some research and facts about solids.

Here are our facts about solids:

Kapriella – Reading Week 3 Term 2

Kia Ora,

In this week me and my reading group have been reading about All As One.

All As One / School Journal Level 3 November 2020 / School Journal / Instructional Series / English - ESOL - Literacy Online website - Instructional Series

What’s the story about?

The story is about mosques in New Zealand. Musilm people there will stay to come together as a family, they do prayers, eat and other normal things. The Musilm people work together as a family or team, making sure they have each others back.

The story kinda relates to my family, and maybe yours. My family works together just like the family in the book. I like the book because its like working together as a family and friends, it talks about whats in the mosque and how the Muslim people have their day in it.

Smart Fish

Kia Ora,

Today, I will showing how I make my smart fish in Google Drawing! 🙂

My class made these fish with Aina, and here I will show you how I made them. First, I started with a base shape. I made my base with a rectangle with a cut corner. Then, I  made Two circles, one bigger than the other. I made sure the big one is white and the small one is black. Then, I Put it at the front but not all the way in the front of my fish.

I added some fins with triangles and a rectangle, then I made the back fin with an arrow. I changed the background to Blue, and made sand with the curve tool to make a unique looking ocean. I added some plants and rocks to make it better. Then, I copied and pasted the fish and make one of them Green and the other one Orange.

Here is the finished Smart Fish that I made:

Scroll down to see my description for the two fishies.

Orange and Green fish like swimming around and playing hide and seek, and they stumbled apon a mysterious cave while starting a round of their favourite game. They wonder what’s in there, but they’re too scared to go in! Maybe one day they’ll go in, what if there is treasure or food inside? Maybe a monster that could eat them? Or maybe just an empty cave? They will have to find out…

If you were one of the fishies I made, would you go in the mysterious cave? Would you be scared?

If you could make one of these, what fish would you make? Why would you choose the fish you chose?

My fishies look cool in my opinion! What do you think? Is it good?

Comment down what you think! I’m exited to see the results. 😀

(If you want to make your own, follow the instructions I put in!)
